A Trip Down Memory Lane

This afternoon, (after finally getting out of bed at 3pm, ack!) I found that I needed a couple of things from the store. So, I loaded Puddy up in the truck, and we went to Food Town.

What is the deal with Food Town? Why are the customers AND the employees so rude? I mean, is it the standard now that when cheap, generic, meat and dairy products are involved it gives everyone the right to be pissy?

However, they did have 18 packs of Miller Lite on sale for $12.00, so I guess I could learn to live with the bad attitudes.

It just makes me sad that I can remember when that strip center was first built, and it was a Safeway. Remember those? They actually sold albums there. That's where I purchased my "Beauty and the Beat" album for goodness sake! (Um, that's the Go-Go's, for anyone who doesn't know. And if you don't know, why do I even talk to you?) I think I might also have purchased Rick Springfield's "Working Class Dog" album there as well. Or maybe I got that one at TG&Y. Ahhh..the good old days.

Anyways...After the Safeway, it was Apple Tree, then Gerlands (I loved that store. They were open 24 hours, and I can remember going in there on the way home from Jennifer's, drunk, and buying a frozen pizza to cook when I got home in all my wasted-ness. God, I'm so lucky I haven't burned any buildings down! They also had really really good fresh baked donughts.). Now, it's a Food Town. And It Sucks.

When I lived over in my other apartment, I gave all of my business to Kroger, because it was really fucking convenient and less expensive than Randalls. When I moved over to this apartment, Jennifer let me in on the little Walmart secret, and I really love that store. Although I get pissed when they don't have a specific thing I want. One of those things is the box of bagged Sweet and Low. I don't want the little packets, I want the bag that comes with the little pink spoon. That's what I use to sweeten pitchers of tea. So, when they DO have it, I have to buy all the ones that they have. That's so totally something that my Mom would do. I feel like such an adult.

Now I'm kinda hungry. I sure wish Willie or Jennifer were here to make me something. :)
