A few weeks ago, Ken signed up for ballroom dancing lessons. I have wanted to take dancing lessons for something like the past three years, so he beat me to the punch. I've been so jealous. He goes to the studio almost every day of the week for his private lessons and these group lessons that sound really cool. Anyway, when he gets out of class, he usually stops by and shows me what he learned. On the weekends, we move all of the furniture around in my living room to maximize space and we dance. It's so much fun. I have fun, he has fun, it's all fun fun fun.
Every other Thursday, the studio has what they call a Practice Party (or something like that), and it's where everyone just gets together and dances. The students are all encouraged to bring guests. Of course, it's a not-so-very-well-hidden marketing ploy, but who can blame them? Tonight, I went, and boy did I have fun! I wasn't as nervous as I probably should have been, but that's because Ken had been showing me steps to all of the different dances. Sometimes it was hard because he knew his steps, but didn't know what my steps were, but most of the time he could teach me enough basic stuff to get us by. It was so much fun. I've never done anything like that before, and I just had an amazing time. Everyone was so nice. No one's really shy, and the instructors kind of mix in with everyone and make sure everyone is dancing and having a good time. They serve a little bit of alcohol and food, which is really cool.
Some of the dances I did were the Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Rumba, Tango, Swing, Salsa, and Meringue. I knew enough about each of them to be okay, but I was a total beginner at the Meringue! It was just so much fun, and good exercise, too! I never had THIS much fun on a treadmill!
Since I was a "guest" I qualified for a discount, and signed up for just an introductory package. It was only $25, and it's two private lessons and one group lesson. My first lesson is Monday night. I'm very excited, but at the same time a little sad because I know I won't be able to afford to get anything past that. But that's okay. I'll just get my lessons from Ken.
I'm also on the verge of getting a bad cold. The past few weeks I haven't felt quite right, and I've been a little bit dizzy at times. The other night I took my temperature and had a very low grade fever. I've had fever off and on for like the past three days or something. I told them I wouldn't be into work tomorrow because of this, and if I still feel completely like crap then maybe I'll force the issue.
